On September 12, 2017 the Meredith town council, lead by council member Rachel Polens, voted to raise the cap on veterans’ property tax exemptions to the “State Basic Maximum”. The resolution passed with a sole dissenting vote.
The following towns in Delaware county, NY offer the Alternative Veterans property tax exemption:
- Reduced Maximum: Bovina, Hamden, Hancock, Harpersfield
- Basic Maximum: Kortright, Masonville, Meredith, Middletown, Roxbury, Sidney, Walton
- Increased Maximum (second out of eleven levels): Andes, Davenport
